Tapioca Starch
Tapioca starch is a gluten-free thickener and stabilizer used in multiple industries. It is derived using a tapioca base, adds a feeling of “chewiness” to its applications and contributes towards better taste and texture. It contains a large amount of carbohydrates that slowly break down in the body.
In addition, tapioca starch is excellent for thickening sauces or texturizing meat, especially when a manufacturer wants to limit the protein content in the final product. This also results in a soft, rather than crisp texture. Furthermore, since tapioca itself is rich in carbohydrates and starch content, tapioca starch can be a good source of energy that is slowly released in the body over time.
Tapioca starch has a wide variety of culinary uses and is particularly popular with Thai dishes. The starch is also used for baking bread and snacks.
